What is TaiChi, Kung-Fu, or Wushu?
These are styles of mental and physical training to balance the connection between mind, body and spirit. TaiChi, is practiced as a defense martial art which has been proven to provide many health benefits. TaiChi can be practiced by those of all age groups using slow movements to develop coordination, strength, as well as peace of mind and body.
Wushu, from the Chinese characters wu (武) meaning martial and shu (术) meaning art is the development of a sport geared towards competition. Grounded in Chinese Kung-Fu Martial Art basics, Wushu includes two forms; first being a choreographed form practiced with open hands or a variety of weapons to display athletic and aerobatic movements as well as martial art application and spirit enhancing both the practitioners mental and physical limit, and second a sparring and points based hand to hand combat called Sanda similar to Taekwondo and judo.
Currently TaiChi, Wushu and Sanda are included in world competitions and are being considered as a new addition to the Olympic sports.
